「土くれのなかの土くれ」とはもちろん人間を指す。
この有名な人間論、宇宙論でハムレット（シェイクスピア）は自己存在を問うという哲学的偉業をやってのけた。個人としてではなく、人間存在として、神が作った世界を問いの対象としたのだ。かくして人間は問う存在になった。この精神の運動はまさにルネサンスの成果と言える。
